After my last blog post, I was overwhelmed at the response I got from so many different people. From the comments on the blog, Face book and the personal messages I received- it touched my heart. Overwhelmingly I felt so loved. It was amazing to me how many people related to the words I wrote and how they encouraged me, lifted me, inspired me and touched me.
I am sitting here on Christmas Eve, just the dogs and I, my mind reflects on what it means to love. The older I get, the more I recognize love everywhere and in many different forms.
A smile from a stranger
A random act of kindness
A warm embrace from a friend
Knowing that you are not alone
Hugs and kisses from nieces and nephews
Long conversations
Seeing the look on someones face when you know they care
Saying nothing
Lifting others
Laughter
A hand
Sharing a burden
Understanding
So much more
And I am in awe.
So often at this time of year, I feel the ache of being alone and not having my own family. However, as I sit here on the most magical evening of the year and cannot help but be filled with love. It's amazing to me how love can empower people to be the best they can be. If they feel love from one person, if they feel like they aren't alone, if they can have the courage to face one more day. Love is what makes life worth living. Love has the power to change you.
And it is so easy to love. You just let go, you are kind, you just accept and let people be.
I love how we, as humans, have the ability to love.
So thank you, all of you for loving me, for lifting me, for believing in me. I hope to return the favor a thousand fold.
And finally, on this Christmas Eve- I cannot forget the Savior and his ultimate example. It did not matter who it was, what they had done, he just loved unconditionally. I reverence him, I remember him and I try to love like him.
Merry Christmas Everyone!
